Terms of Reference for THE NORTH EASTERN DIOCESES FEDERATIONS OF SCHOOLS – NEDFOS
Background:
NEDFOS is rooted in the four north-eastern Catholic
Dioceses of Hallam, Hexham & Newcastle, Leeds, and Middlesbrough. It was created from grants made available to the Catholic
Education Service from the National College of School Leadership in spring 2007. The first regional conference exploring collaboration
was held in York in May 2006.
Rationale:
The purpose of
NEDFOS, through its meetings, conferences and website is primarily to encourage greater collaborative working between Catholic
and Joint Catholic and Church of England schools in the four north-eastern dioceses. By presenting, disseminating
and exploring good practice examples of informal and formal; statutory and non-statutory models of collaboration and federation,
NEDFOS encourages a greater sense of Christian Co-leadership, a deepening quality of learning and teaching in distinctive
Christian education and thereby enhances and enriches the educational experiences of all children and staff within these schools.
Organisation:
NEDFOS shall be managed by an executive
group of two representatives from each of the four north-eastern Catholic diocese, actively involved in collaboration / federation;
a representative of the Diocesan Schools Commission as appointed through their FLM Committee; the webmaster who shall minute
meetings and maintain and develop the website.
The executive committee will appoint its own
Chair, secretary, treasurer and other offices if required. It will invite a colleague to represent the north-eastern Church
of England dioceses.
The executive committee shall meet termly with minutes being posted on the NEDFOS
website. The Chair of NEDFOS shall be co-opted onto the regional FLM group.
